  • I was studying painting with acrylics when I was only 19 years old. This painting shows an odd simularity with 'Portraits of Bonaire' 35 years later.

  • Next to working as an art director I wanted to show my skills in drawing. This is an example of pointilism. But in the seventies realism was not very popular.

My first mural in Bonaire. Quite different from my early works, but this is how I discovered 'flat coloring'.

  • The first portrait in flat colors - with cartoonlike outlines. (Illustration to the first story in Portraits of Bonaire.)

The first portrait without outlines: hard edge color against color. From here I've developed consequently my own style. I call it 'stylized reality'.
